One of it’s amazing characteristics is the peculiarities common to a group of people occupying a particular territorial area; races as they are popularly referred to as. Individuals belonging to each of these races are known to possess similar physical features such as skin color, body proportions, hair structure amongst others. Members of the Caucasian ethnicity are known to possess light skin, straight or wavy light or dark brown hair, gray, gray-green, hazel and wide open blue eyes, moderately developed chin, a narrow protruding nose, thin lips and facial hair for men; Mongoloids possess a yellow or yellow-brown skin, dark straight hair, broad faces, narrow and slightly slanted brown eyes with a fold of the upper eyelid in the inner corner of the eye (epicanthus), flat and rather broad no se, and sparse vegetation on the face and body while Negroids on the other hand are usually dark-skinned possessing curly dark hair, broad noses, brown or black eyes with sparse vegetation on the face and body. Animal testing has been around since the early ADs but was most commonly known for starting about 150 years ago with the rise of physiology as a science. As â€Å"Companies That Still Use Animal Testing† says, these testings have gone down a lot with new developments for these kind of testing but there are still many major companies such as L’oreal, Clorox, Covergirl, MAC, Pantene, Dove, Avon and hundreds of other companies you’ve probably used. These companies torture these animals and even kill them with their products just so there is yet another†¦show more content†¦Not only do these products hurt people but Andrea Nolan says that animals may experience more pain than humans do. Keeping animals locked up in cages while being experimented on is cruel, unfair and unnecessary. Animals go through awful things while being locked up including conducti ng diseases they would never normally contract. Animals have wires implanted in their brains and have their spines crushed all in the so called â€Å"name of science†. There are now have dozens of alternatives for animal testing that requires no animals nor humans to get hurt. Dr. Elias Zerhouni explains that animal testing is unnecessary because of the newest alternative called â€Å"Organs on chips†. Organs on chips is human tissue grown in a state-of-the-art system to mimic the structure and function of human organs and organ systems. With this there is absolutely no need for animal testing. While animal testing isn’t bad enough, keeping animals locked up has it’s own issues. According to Scotlun’s blog, keeping an animal locked in a cage only a few times bigger than the animal itself can lead to many health issues. These include depression, anxiety, these usually result in a physiological turmoil, leading to death. Animals are forced to eat, s leep and defecate in their already small cage, this can result to many health issues and even death. Animals are meant to be free in nature, eating what they want, doing what they want and living how they were born to live.

Representative democracy is a form of government in which the people elect officials to create laws and policy on their behalf. Nearly 60% of the world’s countries employ a form of government based on representative democracy, including the United States (a democratic republic), the United Kingdom is (a constitutional monarchy), and France (a unitary state). Representative democracy is sometimes called indirect democracy. Representative Democracy Definition In a representative democracy, the people elect officials to create and vote on laws, policies, and other matters of government on their behalf. In this manner, representative democracy is the opposite of direct democracy, in which the people themselves vote on every law or policy considered at every level of government. Representative democracy is typically employed in larger countries where the sheer number of citizens involved would make direct democracy unmanageable.   Common characteristics of representative democracy include: The powers of the elected representatives are defined by a constitution which establishes the basic laws, principles, and framework of the government.The constitution may provide for some forms of limited direct democracy, such as recall elections and ballot initiative elections.Elected representatives may also have the power to select other government leaders, such as a prime minister or president.An independent judiciary body, such as the U.S. Supreme Court, may have the power to declare laws enacted by the representatives to be unconstitutional. In some representative democracies with bicameral legislatures, one chamber is not elected by the people. For example, members of the British Parliament’s House of Lords and the Senate of Canada obtain their positions through appointment, heredity, or official function. Representative democracy stands out in sharp contrast to forms of government such as totalitarianism, authoritarianism, and fascism, which allow the people little-to-no elected representation. Representative Democracy in the U.S. In the United States, representative democracy is employed at both the national government and state government levels. At the national government level, the people elect the president and the officials who represent them in the two chambers of Congress—the House of Representatives and the Senate. At the state government level, the people elect the governor and members of the state legislatures who rule according to the state constitutions. The President of the United States, the Congress, and the federal courts share powers reserved to the national government by the U.S. Constitution. In creating a functional system called â€Å"federalism,† the U.S. Constitution also shares certain political powers with the states. Pros and Cons of Representative Democracy Representative democracy is the most prevalent form of government. As such, it has both advantages and disadvantages to the government and the people. Pros Efficient: A single elected official represents the desires of a large number of people. In the United States, for example, just two U.S. Senators represent all of the people in their states. By conducting a limited number of national elections, countries with representative democracies save time and money, which can then be devoted to other public needs. Empowers the People: The people of each of the country’s political subdivisions (state, district, region, etc.) choose the representatives who will make their voices heard by the national government. Should those representatives fail to meet the expectations of their constituents, the voters can replace them in the next election. Encourages Participation: When people are confident that they have a say in their governments decisions, they are more likely to remain aware of issues affecting their country and to vote as a way of making their opinions on those issues heard. Cons Not Always Reliable: The votes of elected officials in a representative democracy may not always reflect the will of the people. The officials are not bound by law to vote the way the people who elected them want them to vote. Unless term limits apply to the official in question, the only options available to dissatisfied constituents are to vote the representative out of office in the next regular election or, in some cases, to demand a recall election. Can Become Inefficient: Governments shaped by representative democracy may develop into massive bureaucracies, which are notoriously slow to take action, especially on momentous issues. Can Invite Corruption: Candidates may misrepresent their stances on issues or policy goals in order to achieve political power. In office, politicians may act in the service of personal financial gain rather than for the benefit of their constituents (sometimes to the direct detriment of their constituents). In the final analysis, a representative democracy should truly result in a government that is created â€Å"by the people, for the people.† However, its success in doing so depends on the people’s freedom to express their wishes to their representatives and the willingness of those representatives to act accordingly. He has showed very bad behavior throughout the book, as well. Also, I believe he’s acting ignorant because he quotes Huey Long and says, â€Å"Every man is a king,† when Long was referring to both men and women. Next, on page 109, Stanley is acting nice, and tells Stella everything will be alright after Blanche leaves the household and the baby is born. He then changes the subject and starts talking about sex. I believe Stanley can be characterized as a person who only cares for sexual relations. I think this because he never cares about how she’s feeling. He’s always self-centered and only caring about what he wants. The last page, page 112, Stanley is talking about sex, once again. He’s talking about how Stella and himself met, and how they â€Å"had them colored lights going! † I would characterize Stanley as, once again, a self-centered man. I think this because he doesn’t care about anything other than the sexual relations him and Stella had when they met. Also, he’s only talking about that, and not how much fun they had together doing other activities. I believe Stanley is the way he is because of his drinking. I believe he’s abusive because he drinks so much, and he’s so impaired by it, he doesn’t know what he’s doing. I believe this relates to his ways, as well. Also, I don’t think he cares much about other people because he’s a very self-centered man. Also, I believe his ego is bigger than him. This means he doesn’t really care for other people’s feelings, as long as he’s still perfect. I have no empathy for Stanley. I have no empathy because he’s a very rude person, and rude people do not please me. If he was nice and no one understood him, (which might be the case, I don’t know) then maybe I’d have a bit of empathy for him. Also, I don’t have empathy for him because he hit his own wife. Drunk or not, he should know never to hit a women, it’s not polite.
